Ensuring Boston’s History Step by Step
Unlocking Boston’s history was a treasure trove Libby didn’t see coming.
As a student in Paris, Libby Dilling took a year-long course on the architecture and history of the city. Soon she found herself immersed in tracing the steps of that city's history and the buildings which shaped Paris. That single experience revealed and sparked an interest Libby never knew she had. “Paris’ history is multi-layered. Each neighborhood has its own story to tell with architectural landmarks standing as proof.”
A year later, after moving to Boston, Libby met a volunteer guide for Boston by Foot who shared their enthusiasm for our exceptional organization.
What serendipity to learn that Libby’s new stomping grounds was home to Boston By Foot, a non-profit organization devoted to wrapping history, people and architecture together to tell Boston's stories. Libby’s self-discovery, combined with BBF’s mission, was the gateway to a natural partnership.
The following spring, Libby enrolled in Boston By Foot's training program. That step initiated her strong connection to BBF which endures to this day. Libby's involvement at BBF spans over three decades as a former guide, board member, and ultimately board chair. And, her dedication to BBF has not waivered.
In 2015, Libby added Boston By Foot to her estate plan. Libby knows the value of Boston’s history and how only BBF brings it to life. “The quality, program variety and depth, and well researched tours, delivered by our knowledgeable dedicated guides is what I treasure about BBF.” Libby’s commitment to naming BBF in her will was a natural step. “I’m confident knowing BBF will be sharing Boston’s stories - a treasure trove of the city's people and places- for the next generation.”
This is Libby’s legacy. What will your legacy be?
