In 1976, the sesquicentennial celebration of the opening of Quincy Market, Walter Muir Whitehill, noted Boston historian and advocate for preservation, described Quincy Market as “the finest architectural composition surviving in the United States.” We will take a look at this iconic landmark from its storied beginning as a 19th century urban renewal project through to its current place in the heart of historic Boston.
