Program Description:
"Redline Narratives: The Lost Cultural Hubs of Boston"
(Official Selection – Roxbury International Film Festival & Access Film Festival)
This Afrimerican Academy documentary traces how redlining, highways, and “urban renewal” reshaped Boston’s neighborhoods and erased many African-American and multicultural cultural hubs. It also lifts up the people and places that resisted disappearance and are rebuilding community today.
After the film, stay for a live panel conversation on:
● How can volunteers help “tell our story” in a truthful and powerful way?
● What histories are still missing from the public record?
● How can we protect cultural artifacts and support community-led projects as Boston moves toward Boston 250?
