Social Media Volunteer

Boston By Foot, Inc. is an educational nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring locals and visitors to discover and appreciate the diverse stories of Boston by exploring the cityscape together. Boston By Foot depends on the time and talents of its over 200 volunteers to support its mission-driven programming.

Social Media Volunteers serve on the Communications Team to support organizational social media and on-line communications and marketing efforts under the direction of staff.

  • Type:

    This is a flexible remote volunteer position.

  • Commitment:

    1-2 hours per week

  • Application Status: Closed

Duties include assisting staff with:

  • Write and schedule social media posts on organization’s social media pages based on information and images provided by staff
  • Respond to customer inquiries through social media platforms
  • Make decisions to share information and content from BBF, partner and related organizations to expand the reach of BBF content and posts following organization guidelines
  • Assist staff with ongoing marketing and communications projects

Qualifications and required skills

  • Knowledge of how to use social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and/or Instagram
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to access and use the internet
  • Ability to write short but compelling social media posts
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and other volunteers
  • Ability to make connections to BBF content and the behavior and interests of social media users/potential customers
  • Ability to adhere to guidelines, policies and procedures including those about appropriate content for Boston By Foot’s social media pages with training provided
  • Desire to support Boston By Foot and our mission
  • A strong interest in Boston history
  • A strong connection to Boston and the surrounding community
