BBF to Offer Multiple Tours During Boston Book Festival

Boston Book Festival Logo

Boston By Foot will once again showcase the Back Bay’s literary history during the annual Boston Book Festival, which takes place in Copley Square on Saturday, October 19th.

BBF guides will lead literary tours throughout the festival, including "Aesop's Fables," a 20-minute children's tour around Copley Square featuring public art related to Aesop's Fables starting at 10:30 am; and a "Literary Mini-Tour" featuring authors and writers in the Back Bay at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm. This 45-minute stroll through Boston's charming Back Bay includes information about authors Edgar Allen Poe, Oliver Wendell Holmes, and Kahlil Gibran.

Both the "Aesop's Fables" tour and the "Literary Mini-Tour" are free of charge. Please visit bostonbookfest.org for more information about the Festival and our free tours.

Also as a part of the Book Festival, BBF will offer its regular "Louisa May Alcott's Boston" tour from 9:30 am 11:00 am. Thanks to the fame of Little Women, today's readers associate Louisa May Alcott mostly with Concord. In fact, before the author reluctantly agreed to pen Little Women, her contemporary readers associated her prolific writing with Boston. Both before and after the 1868 publication of Little Women, Alcott lived for long periods in Boston and identified strongly with the city’s ethos.
