BBF Partners with Local Libraries on New Neighborhood Histories Project
Friday, September 22, 2023
Boston By Foot is launching a new initiative in partnership with the Boston Public Library’s neighborhood branches and the communities they serve. The initiative – entitled The Neighborhood Histories Project – launches on October 2nd in Dorchester Lower Mills, and continues early next year in Egleston Square, with additional communities to be added in the near future.
The Neighborhood Histories Project is a series of community-based workshops – all facilitated by BBF volunteers – that explore, document and share the stories of each unique neighborhood.
DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS
Our volunteer team will be in Lower Mills, Dorchester throughout the fall, participating in five total sessions. During the introductory workshop on October 2nd, participants will be asked to bring their ideas, stories and curiosity about topics such as: What Lower Mills people, places and stories are you interested in or curious about? What do you want people to know about your community's history? How would you like to document your neighborhood’s history?
Community members of all ages are welcome. Pre-registration is encouraged but not required. Drop-ins are always welcome. If you or someone you know lives (or lived) in and loves this neighborhood and would like to participate, please let us know by pre-registering here.
